Thanksgiving Miracle
Every year around Thanksgiving, the kids are out of school for a week. My mom was planning a big get-together at her house and wanted me to bring all three kids over to join the festivities.
It's no secret that my ex-husband and my youngest son's dad do not get along at all. In fact, my ex-husband has a restraining order against my youngest's dad. So, I had a feeling getting them to agree to let me take all the kids was going to be a problem.
Seven days before Thanksgiving I decide to talk to Cam about the kids coming with me to my parents for the week. Immediately, he shuts down the conversation. He was fine with me bringing our son, but the oldest children couldn't come because the restraining order hadn't been dropped. The disappointment was written all over my son's face.
I could see the disappointment written all over my son's face. I motioned for him to follow me into his bedroom. I sat him down on the edge of the bed. I looked into his eyes and said Don't be disappointed. God can fix this situation. He asked me how. I answered him, saying, with a double prayer.
"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. - Matthew 18:19-20 (KJV)
Together, we prayed for God to change Cam's mind about all the kids being together for Thanksgiving.
After we prayed, my son looked at me with uncertainty in his eyes. All I said to him was, " This is the kind of problem we hand over to God. "
The following week felt like an eternity. I never received a phone call about all the kids going on the trip. I was mostly concerned about misleading my son when it comes to God. Maybe I didn't give God enough notice to help with the situation.
The day arrived when it was time to meet Cam halfway to pick up my son and head to my parents. I pulled up to the gas station. My son had a big smile on his face. He opens the door and immediately looks in the backseat. "Where's the kids!!!?" I looked confused, then my son screamed, "Dad changed his mind two days ago!"
Needless to say, we both celebrated and praised God for this Thanksgiving miracle. I laughed so hard because obviously nothing is impossible for God. He came through for my kids and me, and that Thanksgiving was one we will never forget.
If you have an impossible situation on your hands, turn to the one who can actually fix it for you. Prayer is free of charge. Invite God into your mess and watch Him turn things around!
